Greetings,

I have a folder that has around 200 subfolders. I would like to be able to select all the sub folders and then arrange their contents by type (doing it one folder at a time you would click on the bar at the top of the folder until you get an upward pointing triangle), and finally have the contents of each subfolder be shown in the thumbnail view.

I know I can do this folder by folder, however, I seem to be losing some of the settings and I add and remove folders on a daily basis so I am trying to save some ke strokes.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You could go into one folder and set it up with the settings you want. Then you could go into Tools->Folder Options->View and click on the button at the top that says: "Apply to All Folders". This will set all of your folders to this same view setup.

Keep in mind that this will set ALL folders to this view and not just the subfolders of the current directory.

Does that help at all?

If you look at Customize, in the top folder's Properties, and use the Pictures Template, and tick the check box to make it apply to all sub-folders, does that go part way to solving the thumbnail side of your problem?

As far as "Type" is concerned, you can set your view to apply to All Folders, but I'm not sure how to set it to just one folder and the sub-folders. If you set it for All, then you would have to unset it on every other folder as you opened them.

Folder Options/ View/ "Apply to All Folders".

There is also the setting under Advanced "Remember each folder's view setting".

Thanks to you both. I have tried these and don't like the results on all the other folders. I guess I am stuck doing them one at a time.
