Windows CE 4.2 w/ Compact Framework SP3

I can't get the backcolor property of a button to work with Windows CE 4.2 with SP3. The backcolor properties of my labels work just fine. Does anyone have any ideas why this would be? I've read a couple of places that it is because it is using XP styles or something like that, but I haven't found any other information. And if that is the problem, how do you change the style?
