Not my computer, my brother in laws. - The only way I can get to shut the damn thing down is to use the reset button, it then boots up again, goes thro scan disk and then gives me my desk top as per normal. I can NOW CLOSE down ok. - - Any suggestions please. I have installed a shut down patch about 18 months a go.

Thank you

Thanks carr - will follow the link in a mo.

Buckeyeye - I click on start, shutdown, and shutdown. It then says windows is shutting down but it never does. It just stays like that until I have to use reset button.

Carr: - Re that link. I will look at this when I visit my brother in law cos I dont use win 98 (I have ME). Thanks for your help.
