I am experiencing a very strange problem in Windows 7 when I use any listbox (combobox or dropdown). This problem is occurring on a new Lenovo laptop. Windows 7 updates are current.

As an example, if a listbox contains three entries: "A", "B" and "C". When I select "B" or "C", the value of the listbox immediately changes to "A". So, I am unable to change the value of any listbox, the value of the listbox always changes to the first item in the list.

This problem occurs when selecting listbox entries with a mouse AND when using the keyboard arrow keys, so I do not think this is a mouse-related issue.

This problem occurs with all listboxes, even at the O/S level. So, I do not think this problem is related to a specific application.

This problem also occurs when in Safe mode.

If anyone is able to provide some help for this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Are you using the laptop's trackpad or an external mouse?

These symptoms are often caused by over sensitive trackpads.

You may want to look into the mouse settings and dial them down a bit.

You could also try a USB mouse if you have one handy. see if having your hands clear of the trackpad and other sensitive areas remedies the problem.

We had an issue with Lenovo Windows 7 PCs concerning scrolling within ListBoxes. Removal of Lenovo's MouseSuite cured that problem. I am fairly certain this software is included with Lenovo laptop images. Maybe this is the cause of your issue?
