Hello everyone,

I am currently running 2 Linux DNS servers (one master and one slave) on my network and want to add a computer with Windows 2003 into the network. When both DNS servers are up, the Windows 2003 machine can perform nslookup correctly. When the master DNS server is down, the Windows 2003 only tried to perform a nslookup to the master DNS but not the slave one. I am sure that I have included the slave DNS into the "alternative DNS" when I configured the network setting of the Windows 2003. So I am wondering what I did wrong? FYI I tried the same procedures (ie trying to run nslookup when the master DNS is down) on two computers that run Windows 2000 and Windows XP respectively and they run pperfectly. Thank you for your help.

is the windows 2003 system running as a domain controller?
