I have an AD native domain with 4 DCs. I have recently purchased a new server to replace one of the 2000 DC. During the AD install on the 2003 server I get the message that my 9x/NT clients will not be able to authenticate to this server. The server was scheduled to be installed in a site that has one other DC in it. I have the Directory Services patch installed on all 9x/NT machines. Will my 9x/NT machines be able to continue to log on to the domain without problem as they do now? I asume they will but want to be sure before I implement the new server. Sadly I do not have a test environment to try this out in first. The server will also server for some file storage as well.

You should be able to test it fairly easily. Build the machine in your environment, then take it off line and hook a 98 client up to it with a crossover cable and see if it can authenticate.

Since support for 98 is going away you should start looking at replacing those boxes. MS won't be making security fixes for them soon which could leave your network vulnerable to attacks.
