can anyone please tell me how to configure the windows 2000 OS to shutdown completely as opposed to getting the "IT IS NOW SAFE TO TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF" message after selecting the shutdown option.. thanks a bunch..

This function is only avaliable if you system supports ACPI. During installation the os normally discovers and enables this feature. Check your mobo manual....

Thanks for the info Arteus. by the way what does ACPI stands for?
