I have a new Windows 2000 server that I need to connect to through remote connection or terminal services. I can ping the box and view it from the network but when I try to connect via terminal services it says the machine isn't configured to allow remote connection. I don't remember having to set that before (as you do in 2003 server)and don't see any policies set for this. Like I said, it is a new 2000 server so nothing should be locked down. Thanks for any ideas..

Yes it does. Message is:

The client could not connect to the remote computer.

Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer may be too busy to accept new connections. It is possible that network problems are preventing the connection.

Try again later.

I can ping it by name or IP so network should not be a problem.

Hi johnson,

u may like to check out the terminal service manager and also what are the likely services that are not started at the box. Check out the system logs for any errors.

Cheers,
libroos

Well I guess just opne terminal services configuration and/or manager fixed it. I didnt change anything, only looked. It said it was configured for remote admin so I tried again and it let me in. Who knows, thanks for all your help!!
