Hello,
I am having a lot of trouble trying to install Windows 2000 Server. I am currently trying to dual-boot this with XP Pro. I wanted to set it up so XP Pro was on my C: partition (beginning of physical disk) and 2k Server was on my E: partition (end of physical disk). (I have a D: partition which is just a cache of media files and contains all of my backed up stuff.) Both C: and E: had been formatted using the NTFS (Quick) format option on the XP Pro installation cd, since Win2k doesn't offer that option. NOTE: I have not installed Windows XP yet. I then rebooted my computer and tried to install Windows 2000 Server. The core setup files copied to my HDD and then asked me to reboot. I did so, and it displayed the Win2k Server splash screen for a second, and then gave me the following STOP code:
***STOP: 0x0000007B
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
This happens every time I try to start Win2k. I even tried setting it up at the partition at the beginning of the disk, but it still failed. When I tried starting up in Safe Mode, it shows a "Please wait" message and then hangs. One last thing, when I turn my computer on, a bootloader appears, giving me <1 second to select the only option there "Microsoft Windows 2000 Server." I tried going into the recovery console to do a FIXMBR and FIXBOOT but it didn't help, and now I am here. Thank you all for your consideration in this matter and please try to understand the severity of my situation.

O yea, CHKDSK /F returned no errrors, and I am NOT using a SCSI hard drive.

P.S.: My Win2k Server CD won't boot on its own; I had to make 4 bootable floppies using a utility on the CD. Is there any way to put all four of these together into a bootable image and place that onto the CD and boot from that?

XP reovery console vs. 2k? Remember, I don't have XP installed yet. But I tried it and it still doesn't help. Maybe some hardware info can help:
MOBO: ASUS a7n266-vm
HDD: Western Digital 40GB 7200RPM, 3 partitions
Processor: AMD Athlon 1800+
RAM: 256 MB PC 2100

Thank you for your help on this issue. However, I found out that NTFS "Quick" formatting from XP cannot be used on Windows 2000. You must perform the FULL NTFS format in order for it to work correctly. However, I am having a problem with my video card drivers now (nVidia nForce integrated GeForce 2 32 MB). You can view that post at: thread616-683973 Thank you for your help in this situation.
