I have a visioneer scanner. I want a regular user to be able to use this scanner. The problem is I cant give them Admin or Power User Rights. When I log on the scanner works fine but when a regular user loggs on it says that the installation was not complete please reinstall. I tried adding them to the Admin group so they can update the registry and it works fine. But as soon as i take them off and have them logg on again the same error popps up again that the software was not installed completely please reinstall. On other programs I usually just edit the registry under HKey Local Machine and under software look for the software and give everyone full permission and it be fine. But for some apparent reason this visioneer software is not like that I tried giving everyone full permission in that directory in the registry but it still keeps popping up the same error. I tried calling the vendor to see if they have any registry tweak ideas but they say they dont. Anyone know where I can edit to make this problem go away for a regular user. Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

It sounds like you're on the right track..and aside from any folders not having proper permissions to run/change/create files...it's still in your registry.

You said you found the key in the registry under HKLM, but most likely it's also under other keys and aliases as well.

Try doing a find: in the registry for "visioneer", or any other name you can think of relating to the scanner. It sounds like there's also settings under HKCurrent User that needs elevated perms as well.

The keys you need to change are in there somewhere..ya just need to find it, or give them admin rights alltogether. (not good practice)

Good luck..maybe a user with this same scanner knows more specific's about this? If so - help YLOR out..:)
