system specs:- windows 2000 + latest service pack 4 + all critical updates..basically
the latest from windows update:-

I log in using administrator

problem :-

monitor screen flickers..

so to change refresh rate of monitor to something higher...

but I get only the following screen when I go to change refresh rate:-

and "use hardware default setting " is the ONLY option I see..

Trying to load samtron 56V monitor driver from floppy

when I right click on "My Computer"

- properties - hardware - device manager -- I see

i.e I dont see a "monitor" item at all ??

so I directly click on setup from the samsung floppy and I get a screen like

and I choose

samtron 56V from the list

and click on "install"

and I get

"Error Occur, While installing monitor adapter (Error Code 259)

so any help will be sincerely appreciated

basically I want the monitor flicker to go away

the same monitor when used with windows 98 allows for changing refresh rate so when
I set it to 70 / 80 the flicker goes away..

but the same cannot be done in windows 2000 why ??

Is your monitor in "Display properties" a Default monitor? If so you need to install as "Plug n play". Click on "update driver" in the default monitor properties and you can either install PnP or your Samsung. You will then be able to adjust refresh etc.
Cheers.......

Hi Chris,
start / settings / control panel / d-click "system"
go hardware / device manager
d-click "default monitor" and click the driver tab. Update the driver from there by choosing "display a list of etc etc" and under standard monitors you will find plug n play. You may wish to select "Have disk" where you will use your Samsung floppy.
Cheers......

It is sooooo much easier when you provide more info.

If you look at your device manager you will realise that you don't have a display adaptor installed. Logically, if you don't have a display adaptor, then you have no monitor for it to talk to. Makes sense doesn't it?

Step 1. Install your motherboard drivers
Step 2. Install display adaptor drivers either from a setup prog OR update the driver per my last post but you need to know what your card is. When the adaptor is installed, the monitor will take care of itself.
Step 3. Install the modem (PCI CARD), sound card (Multimedia audio controller) and sort out the conflict you have between the NICs

Hope this helps........

Also sooooo much easier if I looked at your first post properly and checked the gifs. ;-)
