Computer specs are as follows:

PC Chips Slot 1 mainboard (Unknown model)
Intel Celeron 400
128 MB RAM (2 32MB DIMMs & 1 64MB DIMM)
Abit HighPoint 370 PCI RAID card
ATI Xpert128 PCI video card
Intel 10/100 PCI network card (I know it's not manufactured by Intel, but Windows always identifies it as such)
40X CD-ROM drive (Attached to IDE0 on the mainboard)
HP CD-RW drive (Attached to IDE1 on the mainboard)
60GB 7200 RPM ATA100 Western Digital HDD (Attached to IDE0 on HPT370)

First phase of setup in which the hard drive is formatted and files are initially copied to the hard drive runs fine. After the computer reboots, the second phase of setup begins.

Immediately after the "Typical Network Settings or Custom Network Settings" dialog box, the computer restarts. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Try to install with no network. When completed, install the network.

Not sure if this thread is still active, but I also had the identical problem.

I'm glad you listed your devices because I believe the problem is due to your HD. Western Digital HD are set with ATA/100 as default. It turns out that W2K only supports up to ATA/66 until you install service pack 2 (SP2). It's a catch22 because how do you upgrade to SP2 if you can't install the original W2K? Well, you need to set the HD to ATA/66, which you should be able to do with the diagnostic tools from their web site (only works for West Dig HD).

Once you install W2K, install the service packs and then set your HD back to ATA/100. This should do the trick.
