All of my servers are NT 4.0 OS. Most of my workstations are 98SE and 2000 Pro. We are using Cisco 4006 switches with multiple vlans. A coulple of weeks ago, I noticed that one of my 2000 workstations was taking the position of Master Browser over the PDC. I can do an nbtstat -RR to re-establish the PDC as master, but every time that specific 2000 machine is started, it takes over as master again. Any help in understanding what might be causing this would help me greatly. Thanks for the help and professionalism from everybody. Thanks for the help on error code 1909 epohl!

HI.

Is the workstation in a different VLAN and IP subnet from the server?

If so, then it is expected that it will take the Master Browser role.

In the domain, there is a single "Domain Master Browser" which should always be your PDC, but each IP subnet should have its own "Master Browser" and "Backup Master Browsers".

Correct me if I'm wrong here..
