What is the new standard of writing Windows 2000 Logon scripts in a pure Windows 2000 environment?

I have been using Kixtart in Windows NT 4.0 environments for many years. Does anyone know if Kixtart can be used in Windows 2000 environments?

Also, what about simple batch files (Even though this would be a poor solution....very limited)?

What about WHS scripts using VB?

If you have any information, please let me know. I think Microsoft wants administrators to use VB or Jscript but I'm not sure. And...I don't know much about writing logon scripts using VB. I you have any good web resources, it would be most helpful.

Thanks! Joseph L. Poandl

You don't want to use any form of WSH since that would mean enabling it on all your desktops. I actually use basic NT batch language. It's actually a LOT more powerful than the old DOS batch language. You might be surprised. Check out "Windows NT Schell Scripting" by Tim Hill. Also check out some of the sample scripts found in the various tips here:
The syntax can be a little obtuse, but it's actually pretty powerful and scripts will run with no add-ins on any NT/2K server or workstation.

I haven't lost my mind - I know it's backed up on tape somewhere ....

I have been using kixstart 2001 for about 7months here with know problem.

Megladong04,

Are you using KixTART 2001 in a pure Windows 2000 Domain environment? Or in a Windows NT 4.0 mix... Joseph L. Poandl
