Windows 2000 Licensing question

I just bought an old computer from a thrift store that has Windows 2000 installed on it. I can tell the computer came from a school, but there was no license or CD that came with it. Am I allowed to legally keep Windows on it? I'm guessing that the school had installed a group license of Windows on it.

I have searched all over but can't seem to find the answer, thanks!

Thanks, I was afraid of that. One last question in desperation, there is a contact phone number for the school, would I be able to contact them for a copy of the group license cd/serial number? Thanks!

i doubt they give it to you, and even if they would its not legal. why?, have a look at
