Hello !

I have a Win2K pro SP2, that seems to hang when i try to access anything that uses a network connection.

If i try to start Internet Explorer, it can take up to 5 minutes. The same thing happens with "My Computer". If i start an application on the local computer (ie. word) it works fine.

I have tried to update Internet Explorer to verson 6 SP1, without luck.

In the application log i have a couple of errors ID 10010 from DCOM, but nothing that matches up with the start of internet explorer or other....

Has anyone met this problem.... and how did you solve it....

Lars

Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little more effort.

I have a similar problem, while browsing on the Internet after about 3 or 4 pages it hangs, I have to close IE and start again. This doesn't matter what site I am viewing.

As far as browsing the network, make sure your hosts and lmhost files show accurate netork information. I also find that if you use IP addresses when you map drives to a network drive.

Can anyone help on my problem???

IARSHALD,
I would advise upgrading to service pack 4 or 3 at worst then patch the machine for all critical patches.
Do a full virus scan.
If nothing else works read this post. After that post the hijack this log here but ensure that you complete every step.

I would advise completing the steps mentioned in the post above as well.

Is there a GUID with that DCOM 10010 error? Or what is the full error given?

Did you try downloading and running 'ad-aware' on your pc? I've had a few users who complain of the same thing you are, ran ad-aware and was amazed by how much better it ran.

Iarshald: Did your problem get solved ?
I have exactly the same problem, i have SP4 and have cleaned about 300 malware with adaware. Please reply to me if you have any luck.

Works fine for Win2k.
