Windows 2000 failure to recognize installed dat tape backup

Would appreciate hearing whether or not there is a way to get my newly installed Windows 2000 Pro to recognize the dat tape drive on my system.

The only obvious answer i can think of is have you checked your manufacturers website of the tape drive for updated drivers?
