Windows 2000 backup - categorize tape

Our backup plan involves tapes for day 1 to 4, week 1 to 3 and then Month 1 to 12.

For some reason, past monthly backups cannot be seen in the backup history under the restore tab.

How do I catelog past month tapes in order to do a restore?

I see that there is a "Catelog backup file" option - is this what must be used and how?
