Hi,
I have just set-up two windows 2000 advanced servers both primary with A/D and it works fine over a trust between two sites although when I try and view the network neighbourhood using the windows network and not A/D through a win 98 client i cannot log onto both domains just the one on that site.
This is a problem as 95 and 98 clients see the windows network and can't use A/D.
Can some one please help me.

Do I need to install wins databases or something???

You could install DSCLIENT which allows those OS to use the AD.Use might not be the right word but it lets them take advantage of AD.

Where can I get DSCLIENT from?

Also is this a common problem on 2k server or should it not happen. I cant see why MS would not let 95 or 98 clients view the micorsoft windows network. It is really strange!! Any more advice would be welcomed PLEASE!!

Well that would be fine but I need the 98 clients to see both win2k servers through the microsoft windows network in network neighbourhood. Any more suggestions as to where it's not working? The A/D is fine when viewing from 2k workstations but I can only see the domain of whcih building I am at. e.g if I connect to the server in london I can see london in windows network but not north-west and vice-versa, but A/D can see both servers from any site.
Please help

DSCLIENT is found on the server CD in the \Clients\win9x folder.
To install it copy DSCLIENT to a shared folder, log onto the domain from the w98 client browse to the shared folder and double click on the exe file. The setup wizard will start automatically and when finished it will need a reboot.
Are both servers in the same subnet? If not that might explain a failure to see both in network neighborhood.

Yes both servers are in the same subnet. Basically the setup is 1 win2k server in london and 1 win2k server in the north-west. They are both domains i.e "London" "North-West" Any win2k workstation can logon to both domains and browse the active directory from any site. When a 98 client logs on they can only logon to the PDC at there site and cannot see the other server through windows network.
I thought it was a trust issue but if I can see the servers through A/D it must be something else.
Any more ideas would be helpful

Have you tried the DSCLIENT on the W98 PC's yet?Dsclient adds support for AD resources and might solve the problem.
Trying it on one would be an idea.

Yes I tried it but that hasn't resolved the problem that I have. You see I need the windows 98 machine to see the network through windows network and not A/D. DsCLient is all well and good but I need a better solution for fixing this. It seems like there is some sort of DNS problems cause the london domain and servers can now see the north west domains. Do I need certain settings in DNS?
I tried using wins but I still have the same problem, there must be a way of doing it or all these big networks would not work!!!!
