I installed Windows 2000 AVS seperately from Windows 98 SE, but I am getting annoyed with the boot menu that tells me to choose whether I want to run Windows 2000 or Windows 98. What can I do to uninstall Windows 98 without damaging and 2000 files?

Step #1: Edit the boot.ini file

Three edits are required:
. remove the Operating System line for Win98
. Change the default= string to point to Win2k AS
. Change the timeout setting to 0

Step #2:
Just Delete the folder \Windows that contains the Win98 installation.

I can't find the boot.ini file anywhere. I've done searches for it in as many ways that I can.

It is located as a hidden, system file in C:\

Start Windows 2000.
Click Start, Run, CMD

C:
cd \
c:
attrib -r -h -s boot.ini
notepad boot.ini (make the changes discussed above and save the file).
attrib +r +h +s boot.ini

Reboot and test.
