Hi all, question on backing up your server. What files do I need to get the OS and all hardware backup if I have a disk failure?

Depends on your needs, but always do the system state and registry. (Make an ERD to do this.)

right now I have sys on C: and data on D: two serperate drives. If I lose a drive of either what file do you back up to get the system to where it was?

Do I need to know right the disk size and partion size of current disks?

Dan Crandell

Dan,

To get the system "to where it was" will require the use of a drive imaging product like Symantec GHOST, or a commercial backup/restore product with disaster recovery capabilities, like CA ArcServe.

If you can post more information about your enviornments "requirements" then we should be able to point you in the right direction.
