Hello,

I'm having trouble getting a Win98 machine to connect to the internet. The WLAN is setup properly and I can connect 2 other XP computers to it but when I try to get the 98 computer connected I find that the correct network IP is getting assigned to the LAN card in the computer, not the Wireless card. Do I have to bridge these connections? The notebook is not connected to the LAN by a cable.

Thanks for any help,

Chad

Could you clarify your setup please? You seem to have 3 machines (2 XP, 1 98) networked. The 98 machine appears to have a hard wired LAN NIc (connected to what?) and a wireless NIC (connected to what?)

How is internet shared? Are you using a router? DHCP or hard coded IP addresses.

The hard LAN in the 98 machine is connected to nothing, I'm using DHCP from the router and I've tried automatic DHCP config and Static config.

Thanks

If the hard LAN NIC is connected to nothing, have you tried removing it from machine (or disabling in bios if onboard)? win98 should then have nothing to be confused about!
