I have networked two machines via a linkysys cable/dsl router. One machine has win98 and the other win2K. I have had a few problems with the network.
1. I used the following network profile: client for microsoft networks,TCP/IP and file and printer sharing on both machines. this didn't work, I couldn't see either machine on the network. However I could use the internet on my win98 machine
2. I added NetBeui to the above profile to both computers and enabled LMHOSTs lookup on the win2k machine. Now I can see the win98 machine (shared folders etc) on my win2k machine and I can see the win2K computer name under the win98 network neighbourhood but I can't see the folders shared on the win2k machine. Now I can't use the internet on my win98 machine.
My current network profile on the win98 machine is client for microsoft networks, TCP/IP, NetBeui (set as default protocol) and file and print sharing (both options enabled). The same profile exists on the win2k machine.
I am desperate for any help you could provide. Thankyou.
