Win98 lose printer

I am running a Win98 machine and have a hp 842 deskjet connected to it. Everytime the computer shuts down and reboots the printer disappears. Any advice would be appreciated

Is the printer local or on a network? LPT1, LPT2, etc? ~cdogg

Assuming you've loaded the drivers,Try completely removing the printer through Device manager,then rebooting.When Windows asks for a driver,use your CD supplied with the printer. This may work but failing this,you may have to adjust your BIOS settings.

If this is not specific enough,please let me know.
