Any Ideas?

I have recently taken over administration of a small business running WIN2K & Exchange 2000, it was left in a complete nightmare from the last admin. Unfortunatly I am more familiar with Exchange 5.5.
When I try and open the properties for a user in Active directory I get an error message 'Win32 - Thesystem cannot find the file specified - c0010007' and no exchange properties tabs appear.
I assume there is something wrong with the exchange plugin for AD but was wondering if any of you knowledeable people could help me out with this.

Cheers all.

Reinstall the Exchange System Manager.

If that doesn't work run adminpack.msi (search the drives for it) then reinstall ESM. Dan

Thanks for your advice, unfortunatly I cannot run Exchange setup from the CD, or find adminpack.msi on any drives.

When trying to run setup, the following error is logged in C:\WINNT\temp\eventlog

[02/02/02,10:05:40] Setup.exe: ***ERRORLOG EVENT*** : Run() : RunLoadSetup(), an exception has occured.

among a list of others.

Any further ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hads.

Further to that, this is in the 'Exchange server setup progress.log' file in the root directory

Error code 0XC0070424 (1060): The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

I have checked the microsoft article on this (Q294814) and the WMI service is running and conected to the local computer.

Okay....

This just get more and more bizzare, somehow it is tied in with some Windows error to do with profiles. I am going to shift this post to the main WIN2K forum.

If anyone is following, if I delete a profile from the computer and then log on as that user and create a new profile it will work. Then if I log out as that user and log back in (including reboot) then it stops working and I have to re-create the profile. Just plain weird.
