I have a windows 2000 server box being used as a telephony server. It has been a very reliable server for several months now only to start acting up a few days ago. The problem i am having is that the server keeps shutting itself down but it is not physically shutting off. If i go the server it is still on but i am getting no signal to the monitor, i cant ping the server over the network so the only option is to reboot. When i reboot and check the event log i am getting an error message Event ID 6008 "the previous system shutdown at "time" was unexpected. So it is telling me what time the shutdown took place, but i am not seeing any other error messages. This has been a repeated problem now for 4 days, the longest it has been up since it started has been 30 hours, but sometimes it will happen after only 4 hours. Does anybody no why this could be happening? Please Help

what is the server spec. has it got any on board management utilty. Could it be that the fans are not working and the server is overheating, hence autoshutdown !!!!
