win2k pro performance tweaks

can anyone suggest a few tips to improve performance in win2k pro. Or just point me to a website on how to tweak windows like mad.

Hi Iceman,
There is a lot of tweaks out there. I have a network I am responsible for with 1500+ plus users. Mixed domain with 85% of them using W2k. So I too went looking for some tweaks. There is alot you can do to improve W2k performance. I have seen some big differences since I have done some tweaking. the easiest thing to do is go to Google and search for "windows 2000 tweaks". You will find many to choose from. My fav is

Try bootvis.exe fom Microsoft

There is a optimization choice, under the trace pull down, great little program for speeding up the startup of XP

so if it works on XP it should work on win2k?

There aren't a gazillion tweaks to 2K like there are to 98. 2K works. Any decent tweak page for 2K will be enough. There aren't alot of XP tweaks because the tweakers are too busy doing M$'s beta testing. The tweaks for it will be out when the XP users are done (next year sometime).

Bootvis.exe does not work for Windows 2000, tis a shame; decreases startup and shutdown time considerably e.g. bootup time after fresh install on my 3.0 ghz was 25 seconds, now down to 13 to 16 seconds
