win2k printer settings

It's from a win2k pro system w/all the updates. I was trying to setup an HP LJ 5. I tried the LJ 2 and 3 drivers as well. Other systems I've seen this error from were trying to change settings for HP LJ 4000n or 4050n printers. Some of our apps don't like the pcl6 driver while others don't like the PS drivers. Regardless, we sometime have to modify the settings and sometimes this error occurs. I can't find anything that is solidly the same amongst all these scenerios execept the hp name.
