hey..
can anyone tell me why i am getting the physical dump from windows 2000 when i use for a couple of minutes after i start up. i am currently using a P2 laptop with 128 MB of RAM and 6.4 GB HD. i have been getting these BSOD messages after i finished installing. i know the minimal requirements for windows 2000 is only 64 MB of RAM. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

As soon as you startup, please do Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administative Tools, Event Viewer and report on the Events here that are causing problems.

Laptops/notebooks are very difficult as they often have customized features for the original operating system install.

I suspect you tried to upgrade from Win9x. Do a clean installation of Win2k.

I to have the same problem. Although I a using...
AMD 1700
256 times 3 ddr
wd 80gb hd.
new install, w2k
not an upgrade.
What is this telling us.

In the alternative, as it appears you have several seconds before the dump,

right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery Options, and uncheck to 'automaticly restart on erros' and check 'write an event to the system log'

This gives you a "Blue Screen of Death" but at least tells you want specific problem it is complaining about rather than rebooting.

Alright this worked for awhile, but has started back agian. My event log is an unreconizable "Application popup: Service Control Modual : at least one service or driver failed during startup" was one message.

OK, worked for awhile. Memory dump BSOD looking error refering to something about IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL...
