I am a newbie trying to admin a win2k network. The server is win2k server and has been set up as a domain controller.
The rest of the network is in a workgroup. Can I set up the server in the workgroup? I am trying to use it with a local printer, but when I try to add the printer to the rest of the network I get an access denied message. Any help would be great!
Thanks!

you need to setup/start the print server on w2k server. try "start rpcss" in the run line and that should do the trick and pick up printers (if they've got a IP that is..)

Join the domain with the rest of the workstations. It is a waste to have a domain setup and all clients as part of a workgroup.
The access denied is most likely completely to do with the fact that they (the clients) are not members of the domain.
W2K is not enabled by default to share its resources to non domain members.

Agree with shovel, unless you just love having to set up local passwords and account and resources, scrap the workgroup. Waste to have W2K for that environment, just go back to NT 4.0 netbeui days if thats the case.

Thanks guys! Just to be clear, I would just change the clients Network Identification from workgroup to domain?

Essentially yes.To join the domain you have to have the rights to join. When prompted for the proper logon to the domain use the servers admin or one of the domain admin accounts to join.
