I am preparing to migrate 12 NT 4.0 workstations in an NT Domain to Windows 2000 Professional. We use roaming profiles in NT and I have seen a couple threads here that indicate NT roaming profiles will not work with 2000 Professional.

First, is this true? (Yes, I do expect that it is).

Second, is there any preferred work-around for this? I would like to continue to use roaming profiles if at all possible. My thought is that I could remove the existing roaming profile from the user's directory on the PDC, log the user on so a new profile is generated on the newly-installed 2000 Pro machine, then log off so the new profile is stored on the PDC. Am I dreaming, or is this a reasonable way to proceed.

We are also using machine policies... any input there would be gratefully received.

Fortunately, I have a few months to put this in place:).

I just did this with my dept..yesterday! I am not seeing any huge things go wrong with the users having an NT created profile on a 2000 workstation.
My biggest issue is permissions. All my users are set at restricted user permissions. Now they can't save bookmarks in Netscape and some other funky lil things that we are still discovering...
