Win2K Error Code 19 CD-ROM unaccessable

Running Win2k, went to access the CD-ROM, didn't work. I noticed that the device manager had a question mark by it. Went to properties and it read "corrupt registery - error code 19". I did all the simple things of unistalling and reinstalling with no success. Is there a way to repair a "corrupt" registery when a backup is not avaiable?

A quick way to restore the registery is to reboot your PC, press F8 while it's starting up
Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.
It may not solve your problem but is the first place to start.
