Hi,
I have just set up a win2k dhcp server serving up 60 ip address for roughly 40 machines, give or take 10 on any given day. I have set the lease time to 8hrs. The problem I am seeing is that the server it self and one other machine seem to be taking up all the extra leases and when a new machine attaches to the network they are unable to. I usually have to go into the management interface a couple times a day and check the lease usage and delete those leases to let other machinees get ip addresses. Anyone have any info on this? or have seen this before?

Expired IP leases will be retained for 4 hours in DHCP database, this grace period protects a client lease in case the client and server are in different time zones, the individual computer clocks are not synchronized or the client computer is off the network when the lease expires. Take this into consideration when deciding to create a short lease time like yours.
