When I try to start my computer, Win2000 tries to login before the Novell Client. I get the error message that the Windows password isn't correct.....It comes up with the Novell Login Box and it always has the workstation checkbox checked. Is there a way for it not to have the check box checked so it log into Novell first. It just recently started to do this. I am running the Novell 4.83SP1 client for Novell.

Thanks forthe help

GO to control Panel and select users and passwords.
Make sure require users to have their own users and passwords is selected.

Have you made sure that the Novell Client is set as the Primary logon client and not the Microsoft Client? -----------------------------------------------------

I recently encountered a similar problem except the bootup would blow on by any kind of logon. Once settled into Windows, I could, however, manually logon to Novell without a problem. I just tried your suggestion to enable "Requires users etc..." in Control panel/User-Passwords and for Win2000 IT WORKS. Thank you!!

However, I'm having exactly the same problem with some WinXP clients and I can't seem to find where to turn on this same feature. When I try to "Change the way the users logon" I get a message saying Netware has turned that off and I need to uninstall Netware. (which of course would defeat my purposes)

Help! Thanks, jgillis

If you have a large Environment you might want to consider letting windows assume the administrator is always logged in. Then either have the users invoke Novell Login Manually or just put it in the startup. If you do have a large environment it's probally best to use this method. that way you or the users donot have any problems changing settings or loading software etc..I found it to be a pain when trying to troubleshoot a users system when the user doesnot have have admin rights to there own system.

Hmmm... sounds more like a bodge than a solution to me. You would be far better using something like ZENworks which would allow a dynamic local user to be created on the workstation with the same name as the Novell username. You could still grant administrator rights to this user but you could lock the workstation down via policies so the users could not cause undue problems with the administrator rights. -----------------------------------------------------
