Hi, everyone

I am software developer. This week I started to work for a company that uses Win2000 as ther domain server. My asked me to install Symantec Web Security. After installation I was requested to restart the server. I did, but after I logged in, the sorprise: the Windows desktop is blank, I cannot use the explorer, I let me work for a couple of minutes than it freezes.

I did a great effort in Safe Trouble Mode to uninstall Symantec and leave the environment as it used to be before the installation, but the problem persists. All services in the server are working correctly, but I cannot use nothing directly from the menu, because every single program I try to uses freezes the desktop.

I have run out of ideas. Can somebody help me please?

Thanks in advance!

reboot again in safe mode, go to device manager and show hidden devices.

you will likely find some non P&p drivers belonging to symantec (right click, properties, driver location (?)) that you can disable before rebooting and testing it...

there is also a product called NoNAV which IMHO is the best antivirus around, as it completely removes norton AV :)
