OK this one has got me bouncing off something!

Win XP Home w/SP2
MS Wireless Mouse
AMD Sempron 3200
ASUS MOBO

The system boots fine and the mouse is active(pointer moves when mouse is moved).
The problem exhibited is that no selections are possible, no left click or right click functions.

The unusual workaround: Pressing Ctl+Alt+Del, bring up the processes running screen, then just closing this by clicking the "RED X", twice (here the mouse click responds after the first click) to close the window. Now all mouse functioning is as it should be. This remains intact until the machine is "hot booted" or "cold booted" then the above routine must be repeated to gain full mouse functionality.

Sans a complete reinstall(have ran a repair install no go) has anyone ran into a situation like this? Or have any ideas/suggestions?

Thank You in advance
