I have an odd problem which has the following symptoms:

1. In Explorer, and Word/Access/Powerpoint 97 file / open dialogs the .doc/.mdb/.ppt files have Windows default icons, instead of their own, although the files open ok via Explorer and Office 97.

2. I can not use "send to" from the file menu in any Office 97 application (or right click menu in Explorer) - if I try I get the following message

"The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator - OK"

Then from Word I get "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure: "Unspecified error" - OK"

Or from Excel I get "General mail failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system, and try again - OK"

My mail (Outlook 97) is working fine in every other way.

If anyone can suggest a fix for this, I would be very grateful.

Do a good ol' reinstall.

1) Unistall both.
2) Install Service Pack 6.
3) Install Office.

Regards...
