appreciate pointers on the below

while outlook express is trying to connect or download emails, i get illegal operation notice
" pop3trap caused invalid page fault in kernel32.dll..."

after clicking it away, outlook express cannot connect to server even after i restarted the machine and check all the settings. result of the download attempt is always "failed" according to outlook express

tried microsoft knowledgebase suggestion to turn off pop3 scanning for norton antivirus. i dont have norton so i off my antivirus pop3 scanning. also tried reinstalling outlook express, also nothing. virus scan nothing

reinstall win 98?

Try uninstalling PC-Cillan and see if the problem goes away. If that works, then reinstall it.

thanks very much for the advice,
i've tried un-installing pc-cillin, upgrading outlook express to version 6, disabling pop3trap.... all to no result

i also found a similar though not exactly thread on the same problem in the forums (sorry) : OUTLOOK EXPRESS WIN98..POP 3 PROBLEM

then i simply re-entered all my email ac settings (not re-create) and changed "localhost" to "pop.xxx.xxx.xx" for incoming server.
all the emails poured in but there were many doubles since any emails on the server would be downloaded.
then i use "synchronize all"
wa lah, problem temporarily solved i think

it seeme to happen whenever there's some auto or live updates going on. but i also realise it has a higher occurence when u do the following while the outlook express is downloading email
delete, create new, clear deleted items or edit drafts

dont really understand whats happening either
