Can anyone suggest fix for Win 98 not loading. Most times it freezes at the Win 98 screen. Sometimes it asks which mode is required and suggests Safe Mode. I have gone in under safe mode and run diskclean, scan disk and disk defrag but to no avail. This has happened immediately after a housemove during which the computer was handled very carefully.

Have you scanned for viruses with an up-to-date anti-virus sofware? Since you moved the computer you might open it up and make sure everything is seated good and make sure your fans are working. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

I went into bootlog.txt and noticed that at the very bottom the fonts had not loaded successfully. Does this convey anything to the initiated? Would it account for Windows not being able to load?

Try going into safemode, then bring up msconfig by going to start>run type in msconfig and hit ok
uncheck process autoexec.bat and config.sys and reboot. IF it will now go into windows, then something in one of the 2 files is causing the problem. [cheers]
