HI!

Any ideas on how to lower down the cpu utilization of our win2k machine which is 100%. This machine is our oracle server and it is slowing down because the CPU utilization is always 100% and i'm afraid that if this will go on our machine might crash.

Pls. help

Might crash?

First off you need to verify what is using the CPU so much. Open the tasm manager and take a look at the CPU utilization by process. What is using all the CPU?

I had a problem on a SQL server that was pegging out at 100%, I thought it was the SQL but it wasn't. Turned out to be a driver that was trying to load for some old hardware that was no longer installed. The system kept trying to install the driver over and over again. This was logged as 100% CPU utilization to SYSTEM.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark,

I examined my system log and there was no error or any problem like what you've mentioned. What is using all our CPU is the oracle.exe as what i've seen from CPU utilization by process of our Task Manager. Any advice on how to lower this CPU utilization.

Thanks,

Rommel

Yes, check with Oracle. They must have a patch for this.

Better yet, dump Oracle and switch to Microsoft SQL. :)
