Win 2k Novell Clients

Hi,

I have a customer moving from a mixed Win95/98 client mix, to a full Win2k client base.

They have some NT servers and a one or two novells boxes as well.

They would like to just use MS clients logging on to the network and try to cut out the Intranetware / client 32 novell clients.

Does anyone know if this will work and willl not lose them to much functionality on the novell side of things, (They are not fussed about losing things like contextless logins, but they do need a good connection to the novell boxes...

Let me say this about that: We've tried using just the MS NW client to attach to our Novell servers, with initial success...BUT... (everyone has a BIG but, ya know) after a while, things began to happen, like unexpected disconnects from the network, strange communication problems across the network, etc. We only did it on a few machines to see what would transpire, and those were the ones that hosed up. Ended up installing Novell client V4.71 for NT/2000...no problems, or rather, THOSE particular problems went away (you're always gonna have problems).
Out of curiosity, why does your customer NOT want to use the Novell client? Do they put their trust in Microsoft that much? I, for one, don't.

Thanks, I was hoping that someone would say that..!!

As for them not wanting to use the Novell clients, I think its just they want to go over to pure MS, they are looking to ditch the Novell boxes and move over to WIN 2K. The sys admin there comes from a MS backgound and has not had much to do with Novell, from what I can gather he never liked the NDS, But he is really going for WIN 2K????

Mabey I am wrong here but I thought the Win2K Active Directory was the NDS repackaged!!!
