Win 2k characters two shades and missing parts. 1

Has anyone ever heard of letters and numbers in win2k pro having issues such as half black\half grey or even missing parts on the sides. I've tried playing with the fonts, different video cards, re-loading the image, different monitors, etc. but for some reason 1 PC out of 3 is flaking out.

Is there anything that can be done or do I just have to wait for Vista to be forced upon us.

did you try moving the hardware acceleration slider in the display properties settings

Yes, all display properties have been verified and the video cards are OK. I have swapped in a known good and the issue persists on the same machine. Our team is convinced that the issue lies in the OS.
