simple docs print fine, larger docs start ok but then quit. tried latest drivers from HP and SP3 from M$ update site. added memory to 10meg on printers but still problems. NT4 prints fine to these printers. all printers are on lpt1 ports. using ljIII drivers for temporary work around. net searches not much of a help, they say use ljIII drivers, but then output not as "nice".

thanks for any help!

How is the printer connected to the network? via Jetdirect or via network share?

Or are they all local printers?

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

all are on LPT1 local connections at the users desktop. when the printers were on the lan they printed fine through a server. now they are retired to desktop duty after network upgrades. if an NT4 pc is hooked and printing the same doc it prints fine.

what i have seen at hp and M$ help sites is not much help.

Have you tried both the LJ4 and the LJ4 Plus? By the way, which is it?

Matt J.

tried lj4, lj4m, and lj4m+, both hp and M$ drivers. we have all three models. lpt1 has been set to bi-directional, ecp, etc., and legacy settings as well as the defaults. connect a lj5 and no problems. if going across a lan with tcp\ip printing to the same models all prints fine.

thanks for all the ideas, i will keep at it.

interesting, with a laptop on a dock station works fine, but desktops not. going to look at bios settings. all out pc's are compaq deskpro's. look at the lowest common denominator he says as he slaps his forehead.
