WIN/2000 Unstable After Patches

3 of our our Win/2000 servers are messed up after applying the patches. ON all 3 we can not see any network icons to modify network settings. On 2 the add programs display is messed up. On on of them it does not function. Certain service like RPC and network connections were down. We have about a dozen identical servers, which look fine after the patches. It appears that applying the patches left the server in an unstable state and a reboot will clear it up or the OS was damaged and may fail on reboot. We have lost the OS on 2 NT 4.0 servers with the patches, so we are concerned about how to proceed. MS is pretty much swamped and unreachable.

Service pack 3 plus all the security patches related to the blaster virus.

I've had problems with installing the patch while the RPC service had been taken down... I would stick the patch on a CDROM, disconnect the servers from the network, reboot them and then try reapplying the patch.
All the symptoms (apart from the OS being damaged) are symptoms of blaster taking your RPC services down.
