From a 2000 terminal server I am choosing to manage a different machine in computer management. The machine I am choosing is a 2003 server. When I try to see the event viewer logs I get access is denied messages. If I remotely manage a 2000 machine I can see the event logs just fine (except for security- normal). It seems you cannot remotely manage the event logs by default on a 2003 machine like you could in 2000.

Question: How do I see the event logs on a remote 2003 machine from a 2000 terminal server?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have access to view the logs on the the 2003 machine?

There isn't any difference between viewing logs on 2000 or 2003 machines, so you need to check your access.

I never had to check any access in windows 2000 for remote access to event logs. What access are you talking about NTFS for the .evt files on the remote box, local security policy, what?
