Hi All,

I recently attempted to format a partition on my second drive (not the windows drive) using partition magic 7.0.

After applying the changes and rebooting, the format sequence began prior to windows starting, unfortunetly for me it crashed toward the end, i restarted and got a stop error - inaccessible boot drive. Now it simply freezes on the windows 2000 logo screen, the progress bar gets to half way and then stops.

Can anyone suggest how to get back into windows? And if I need to re-do or undo what partition magic has started?

Thanks, Shaun

Shaun,

Were you resizing partitions? I ask, as I'd always recommend using 2k's own disk management utility (run diskmgmt.msc) for straightforward partitioning/formatting, and only use PM for manipulating existing partitions (eg, to resize).

You could try running chkdsk from recovery console (on the system partition) -
If you created PM's rescue disks, you could try booting machine with those.

Stax-

Is it possible you set the newly formatted drive to be a primary boot partition?

If so, you can end up violating the rule that there can exist only one operational boot drive in a system at a time.

Use PM boot disks and observe that status of the format on both drives. The second drive will need to be hidden as a bootable partition while running the first partition and vice versa.

Hope this helps!
