I have attempted to make a clean installation of win2000 on a new computer with a 80GIG ATA 133 HD and no partitions, and the following error keep occuring: STOP:0x0000006B (0xC0000020, 0x00000003,0x00000000,0x00000000 PROCESS1_INITIZIALIZATION_FAILED.

Does anyone know what causes this error and how I go about clearing it?

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

Looking at the article, it does not appear related to installation. However, if you do a KB search for your problem there are quite a few results returned.

I presume you mean a single partition for the OS? James Goodman MCP

Thanks james for your response

I have read that article, the only problem is it says the solution is to install service pack 2 but as there is no OS on my computer I can't.

Thanks anyway

Yes I have 1 partition on my HD for the OS

I think it may have something to do with a corrupt ntdll.dll file, I am going to try and copy it from another computer and see what that does.

Thanks again

So, you have attempted the install & you get this error message?

Have you tried the installation more than once?

Personally, I do not use large, single partitions for the OS. Formatting an 80GB drive takes forever ;). I normally start with a 20GB system partition & work from there.

This error message, when does it occur? Is it during the DOS part of the install, or at the start of the Windows install (i.e. the point when it first displays 'Starting Windows 2000...' with a progress bar)? James Goodman MCP
