I recently installed Windows 2000 advanced Server and domain controller, running exchange server 5.0.

The problem I have is that when shut down, it takes a very long time to start up. You may want to believe that it has hang up at "Preparing Network Connection...".

Why should it take that long at this point?

Welcome to the Wonderful world of Advanced Server. You will always find that this happens, I have yet to see an Advanced Server that starts up at a reasonable speed. My advice, do what the rest of us do and turn your back on it for 5 minutes whilst it is starting!!

Hi Maricus, this is typically a DNS issue. Are you getting any event log errors? How long is it taking to boot and what kind of hardware is it?
