Will upgrading IOS erase settings?

Hey just a dumb question. If I update the IOS image on my 2600 router, will it wipe out the configuration settings?

no the ios is stored in flash memory, and your configuration is stored in the nvram...
so your config is safe.

Never a bad idea to back it up though, just in case. As well as your original IOS - make a copy of it before you blow it away.
