As a follow up to my previous post, i think i ahve decided to use the Snapgear Lite for my VPN server. It is realtively cheap, and seems to do everything i need it to.
I have sa static IP on cable access through a Cisco uBR900 router. That will uplink to the snapgear and port 1723 will be forwarded (for PPTP). The snapgear will then uplink to my 3com LAN switches. I believe the only way to "browse" the LAN from the VPN will be to use LMHosts to use machine names, i dont hink, without software, its possible to just use networking places?
My question is on authentication, will anything have to login to Active Directory server, or is all auth handled by the Snapgear lite? Will it be a problem if my clients do not have static IPs, i have read much and it seems like it shouldnt be. Any help would be greatful, thanks!
